Experimenting with tracing vellum
This oil painting is part of an ongoing series. As I experiment with different mediums and materials, I wanted to try paining with oils on tracing vellum paper. This paper is not as thin as common tracing paper. It’s a bit thicker. The vellum I used has a medium smooth finish.
Rhythmic gymnastics inspired me to play with the idea of femineity. I wanted to create a fantasy of this character portrayed in the painting with high degree of coordination. Besides coordination, I feel the painting portrays focus and determination leaving behind the darkness to set into the spotlight of life.
